Beyond The Stoma
Natalie Woodward, 41, is an advocate for bowel cancer from London who was diagnosed with advanced (stage 4) bowel cancer in 2019 at age 36. Initially her cancer was inoperable and thought to be incurable.
In 2019 her bowel stopped working due to her tumour which meant she had to have emergency surgery to have a stoma, which thought would be temporary whilst she had treatment to try to shrink the tumours.
In August 2020 she had to undergo a pelvic exenteration which involved removing the rectum anus, vagina, entire reproductive system, part of spine, pelvic bone, muscle and right glute as well as an operation on her kidney tubes (ureter) to remove cancer.
